I went to several the author's book events when she came to the city and she was 1) a riotous delight and 2) proof my personal theory that you need to be weird to write weird. Also she said that she and her friends go into the woods and perform the rituals out of the seventeenth century books she found during her research in the archives of Norse Folkemuseum (can't remember if this was actually the name but I think yes).
